Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif was in Islamabad to participate in the laying of the foundation stone for the main campus of the National University of Technology (NUT). During his remarks at the event, the Prime Minister underlined the need of fostering skilled and technical education, stating that it is essential to the development of any nation.
He went on to say that education and training in technical and skilled fields are not only a guarantee for the growth and prosperity of the nation but also a guarantee for the development of the country as a whole, which should be our top goal.
The PM went on to say that the younger generation has the power to lead the country ahead by ridding it of corrupt practises and that this is something that they are capable of doing. In addition, Prime Minister Shehbaz stated that graduates of this university would not only be able to make a living in a respectable manner, but they will also contribute to an improvement in the image of the nation in many parts of the world, especially in the Gulf States.
He emphasised how important it was to put a stop to discrimination based on social class, particularly in the area of education, in accordance with the ideals expressed by the nation’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal.
PM Shared his message
Shehbaz conveyed the unwavering support of the government for the promotion of technical education, noting that it will also aid in developing skilled human capital, which may help lessen the trade deficit of the country by sending remittances from abroad. Shehbaz’s comments were made in response to a question about whether or not the government will continue to support the promotion of technical education.
The PM claimed that during his tenure as chief minister of Punjab, he oversaw the establishment of a network of Danish schools throughout the province with the goal of providing disadvantaged young people with the opportunity to receive an education. In addition, he claimed that he distributed billions of dollars in scholarships to about half a million students.
At this event, the Prime Minister made an announcement that the University will get Rs100 million in funding in addition to four air-conditioned buses.
Earlier, Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, stated that pragmatic initiatives are being done to impart skills to youngsters in order to enable them to earn their lives in a manner that is respectful.
In light of the pressing circumstances of the time, Hussain urged young people to pursue technical education.
Approximately one hundred thousand young people will receive training to improve their skill sets this year, according to Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs. She stated that the government is placing a particular emphasis on providing young people with the fundamental technical skills they need, and she added that 80 billion rupees have been set aside for the empowerment of young people in a variety of fields.
Khawaja continued by stating that under the Learning Management System, there will be the introduction of 200 e-learning courses.
