Investigating the May 9 attacks on military sites and war memorials, civil and military authorities come to the conclusion that it was a pre-planned conspiracy rather than merely a response by PTI demonstrators to Imran Khan’s imprisonment.
On the subject, our correspondent had preliminary contacts with both the civilian and military authorities. There is no doubt about the presence of a conspiracy on either side.
Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, vehemently disagreed with it and stated that the May 9 devastation was the result of men from infiltrated agencies who instigated the violence to support a crackdown on the PTI.
Senior security authorities officials responded that once the inquiry is over, everything will be obvious when asked if there was any direct evidence of Imran Khan’s involvement in the plot. Source said, “It was all pre-planned.”
For the same reason, the authorities claimed that all important figures, including the prime minister, army chief, cabinet, corps commanders conference, acting chief minister, and police officials, had claimed that everything had been pre-planned in their public pronouncements.
Authorities Claim on May 9 Attacks
Following the Monday conference with corps commanders, the ISPR press release said categorically, “Based on the irrefutable evidence collected so far, the armed forces are well aware of the planners, instigators, abettors and perpetrators of these attacks.”
According to the ISPR, the forum was informed of the execution of a well-coordinated arson plan that included the destruction of Shuhada images and monuments, burning down of historical structures, and vandalism of military sites in order to defame the organization and elicit an emotional response.
The targets were selected before to Imran Khan’s arrest, claims a top official of a security organization. It is said that it was planned for the PTI to assault the targets in the event of Imran Khan’s detention.
It is claimed that the demonstrators were forced to march towards the designated defense-related locations for attack as part of the planning.
When contacted, a top PTI leader remarked, under the condition of anonymity, that it was just a reaction and not a plot.
He was unable to provide a cogent explanation when asked why defence installations, structures, and symbols were being assaulted everywhere.
He suggested that perhaps it took place because the demonstrators may have believed that the Rangers, who detained Imran Khan, were under the command of a general.
However, the PTI leader seems concerned about how the events on May 9 played out. He revealed that the PTI leaders, who have not yet been detained, were analyzing the situation and talking about a way out.
He adamantly maintains that the PTI does not desire conflict with the army. He did not respond when asked if it was still appropriate to make such a comment.
