The first female CEO of a significant social media organization, Twitter will be hired, according to Elon Musk, the company’s largest shareholder and current Chief Executive.
Musk claimed to have identified a substitute for his position as CEO, but he provided no additional information about the upcoming female Chief Executive Officer.
But he did say that she would return to work in the next six weeks, or the second half of this year. “Excited to announce that I have a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in six weeks,” Musk tweeted on Thursday.
The billionaire revealed that he would become Twitter’s executive chair and Chief Technical Officer (CTO), overseeing the company’s operations for products, software, and system operations.

“My role will transition to being executive chair and CTO, overseeing product, software and system operations (sysops),” Musk posted.
Musk’s disclosure comes months after he declared he would be stepping down after Tesla shareholders sued him over his position as Twitter’s CEO.
Investors complained that Musk will be diverted from his duties as CEO of Tesla, an electric vehicle manufacturer in which Musk also holds a majority stake.
Musk, who assumed the Chief Executive role after buying the firm in October 2022 and ousting the previous CEO, Parag Agrawal, said he will step down once he finds someone “foolish” enough to fill the position.
“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,” he told the audience of a Twitter space last year.
Musk stated that he would cut back on his time at Twitter by hiring a substitute during a Delaware court hearing in November of last year.
Musk defended his choice to continue running Twitter for a while after the acquisition, saying: “There’s an initial burst of activity needed post-acquisition to reorganize the company.”
He also conducted a survey on the social media site Twitter, asking the question, “Should I resign as CEO of Twitter? I’ll follow the findings of this poll.
More than 17.5 million Twitter users participated in the poll, with 57.5% voting for his resignation and 42.5% saying he should continue as Chief Executive.
