Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), Muhammad Zohaib Khan, has harshly criticized the mindless, unplanned, and widespread blocking of internet services in the nation as a result of the developing political situation, which has paralyzed the IT sector since Tuesday night.
“Internet is our lifeline, our office, our communications infrastructure and the IT industry can’t operate without it,” he added.
The operations of the IT industry have been completely halted by the political unrest, according to Muhammad Zohaib Khan, who also claimed that the IT & ITeS sectors are already under a great deal of pressure due to stagnation and a possible decline in exports of IT services as a result of poor governmental policies and a complete lack of continuity in those policies.
Chairman P@SHA Request
P@SHA Chief has vehemently and firmly requested that internet services for the IT sector resume right away. Additionally, he argued that the capacity of data services, in particular, is already declining as the quality of internet service in the nation.
No foreign buyer or importer will accept the justification that we need a few days’ leverage because the internet is unavailable, he said.
To be more precise, credibility and goodwill gained through prompt delivery are crucial in the IT export markets because once a client or order is lost, it is impossible to get them back.
Due to the unstable law and order situation throughout the nation, it is important to emphasize that the majority of IT workers are working from home today.
Given the upcoming political unpredictability, they may have to continue working from home for a few days.
Muhammad Zohaib Khan has urged Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) to quickly restore internet connection and asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to step in like he did during the Wikipedia shutdown.
Additionally, he requested the assistance of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT), and the Tech Destination Pakistan administrations in order to petition the Prime Minister to issue clear directions.
