Many users in Pakistan are reportedly unable to access the popular social media platforms Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram on Tuesday evening.
Users are unable to log in to their accounts on all three platforms, according to the outage-tracking website, which means they cannot post or view anything.
All Social Platforms Downed
Downdetector monitors outages by compiling status reports from various sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform. A larger number of users could have been affected by the outage.
A large number of smartphone users are also complaining about the inability of WhatsApp to function on both desktops and mobile devices.
Furthermore, according to reports, internet speed is slow for many users across the country.
The partial suspension of social media platforms and WhatsApp comes as workers and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stage nationwide protests following the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Rangers officers arrested the former prime minister from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) earlier today, acting on a warrant issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Following his arrest, the PTI urged supporters to protest and “block all roads, close all shops” across Pakistan.
Following that, PTI workers protested in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and Mardan.
Demonstrators clashed with police near Nursery in Karachi. They threw stones at police vehicles, set fire to them, ripped down street lights, and damaged a bus. According to reports, police fired tear gas shells at the protesters.
Protesters also caused property damage in other cities, including Rawalpindi and Lahore.
