According to Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, the provincial government will soon launch a women-only taxi service in Karachi.
In recent months, the Sindh Government has been working to improve transportation services in Karachi. The introduction of the People’s Bus Service was a sigh of relief for those who wished for a more comfortable mode of transportation.
The Sindh government, according to Memon, has made significant progress in this area. Its most recent project will be the launch of a pink electric taxi service. He explained that the taxi service would be driven and used exclusively by women.
This service aims to provide a safe and comfortable mode of transportation for women in the port city. These taxis will be environmentally friendly and will help to reduce city air pollution.
He stated that the service would be launched in two phases, with blue and pink taxis.
“We will start with the pink taxi service, which would only be for women passengers in Karachi. The drivers of the pink taxis will also be women,” he said.
He stated that the pink taxis would be outfitted with cameras and a monitoring system to ensure the passengers’ and drivers’ safety and security.
He also stated that electric taxi services would be safer, more affordable, and more comfortable for city residents than traditional taxi and ride-hailing services.
