The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I (CCA-I) convicted everyone responsible for the theft of a Bentley Mulsanne guilty and levied hefty fines against them.
One of the defendants in the case, Navaid Yamin, has been designated as a habitual offender by CCA-I. Similar charges have been brought against him when his residence yielded a Range Rover that had been stolen from the UK.
A Rs. 15,000,000 fine has been issued on Navaid Yameen in accordance with the CCA-ruling. I’s Two additional defendants, Naveed Bilwani and Jameel Shafi, have been charged with a fine of Rs. 133,621,601.
The discovery of a stolen Bentley Mulsanne in Pakistan earlier in September aroused curiosity among aficionados and the general public. The expensive vehicle was taken from the UK and found in Karachi’s DHA.
Through his spokesman Naveed Bilwani, Navaid Yamin sold the car to Jamil Shafi for Rs. 37,515,650. A Bulgarian diplomat stationed in Islamabad acquired the opulent limousine from the UK in 2019.
A Bulgarian representative named H. E. Aleksandar Borisov Parashkevov had the vehicle registered in his name.
Navaid Yamin was proposed by Naveed Bilwani and Jamil Shafi, who were initially detained. Prior attempts to impound the vehicle were failed thanks to Bulgarian Embassy assistance.
Navaid Yamin was the service staff of the mission since 2019 in terms of Act IX of 1972 Diplomatic and Consular Privileges Act, 1972. He [Yamin] is providing all kind of services to our mission at Islamabad including but not limited to importation of Diplomatic Goods from abroad and is rendering such services at our mission. Being service staff we have allowed him to use our vehicle i.e. Mulsanne V8.
However, CCA-I has proven that Navaid Yamin knowingly used Naveed Bilwani to sell the automobile to Jamil Shafi. Additionally, the CCA-I discovered that the stolen car was smuggled using a diplomatic cover.
