BYD, a manufacturer of electric vehicles in China, is ready to enter the passenger car market in Japan.
The business will begin selling battery electric cars (BEVs) in Japan in January 2023, including the Atto 3, Seal, and Dolphin models, as was previously announced.
BYD, which stands for “Build Your Dreams,” began as a cell phone battery maker in 1995 with less than 30 employees and rose to become the second-largest producer of rechargeable batteries in the world by 2003, the same year it decided to start making cars.
The US billionaire, business tycoon, investor, and philanthropist Warren Buffett, who serves as the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, purchased a 10% stake in BYD for $230 million in October 2008.
The investment generated a return of more than 500 percent in less than a year. Currently, a sizable portion of BYD’s business is batteries and BEVs (Battery Electric Vehicles).
With more than 641,000 vehicles sold in the first half of 2022, BYD recently surpassed Tesla to take the top spot among EV manufacturers worldwide. It is also the first and only automaker in the world to have stopped making cars with internal combustion engines.
Although BYD already has a substantial following in China, the EV manufacturer has recently been on an expansion binge.
In addition to Australia and the Netherlands, BYD will soon start selling cars in nations like Bahrain, the Dominican Republic, Ukraine, Moldova, Brazil, Hungary, Canada, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Costa Rica, Thailand, and Colombia.
Additionally, BYD offered its electric bus and e6 car for sale in the US market as fleet vehicles. Additionally, BYD sells solar energy products and energy storage solutions in the United States. Even in California, Ontario, and Kumarom, Hungary,
it has established bus manufacturing facilities. In the US market, BYD also offered the e6 electric car and its electric bus for sale as fleet vehicles. In America, BYD also sells solar and energy storage products in retail stores. Even California, Ontario, and Kumarom, Hungary now has bus manufacturing facilities established by it.
