Swvl, a popular bus-sharing service, stated on Thursday that starting Friday (June 3), it will “put a hold” on daily travels throughout Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Faisalabad “in light of the worldwide economic slump.”
Swvl Travel (city-to-city) and Swvl Business (business-to-business) will remain fully functioning, according to a message given to app users.
The organisation went on to state that it began its journey in July 2019 with the goal of “fixing a big problem that we all confront and live in on a daily basis.”
“Swvl claimed that having dependable, pleasant, and economical transportation is not a pipe dream. Every Pakistani, we thought, should have this right, the right to commute securely every day “According to the announcement,
The statement comes as the government raises the price of petroleum products by Rs30 per litre in order to appease the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in exchange for a financial bailout.
In addition, on the basis of rising transportation and food prices, inflation in May reached a nearly two-and-a-half-year high of 13.76 percent. Inflation rose from 13.37 percent year over year (YoY) in April to 0.44 percent month over month (MoM) in May.
