The new government has chosen to keep petroleum product pricing the same until April 30.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, according to sources, rejected the summary of the increase in petroleum product prices, which will remain unaltered from April 16 onwards.
Petrol is currently priced at Rs. 149.86 per litre, while diesel, kerosene oil, and light diesel are priced at Rs. 144.15, Rs. 125.56, and Rs. 118.31 per litre, respectively.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) suggested a rise in petroleum prices of up to Rs. 119 effective April 16, 2022, as previously reported.
High-speed diesel (HSD) prices will rise by Rs. 119 per litre, petrol prices by Rs. 83.50 per litre, kerosene oil prices by Rs. 77.56 per litre, and light diesel oil (LDO) prices by Rs. 77.31 per litre, according to the regulator.
It’s worth noting that former Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a drop of Rs. 10 per litre in gasoline prices in February, stating that the lower rates will be in effect until the FY23 budget.
Since then, global crude oil prices have risen, while petroleum product prices in Pakistan have stayed steady.
