Kia EV6, which was only released a few months ago, has already broken a Guinness World Record. It broke the record set by Tesla, the world’s best electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, by covering more miles on a single charge than the Tesla Model S.
The EV6 achieved history by travelling 4635.7 kilometres (2,880.5 miles) from New York City to Los Angeles in just over seven days after being charged for roughly seven hours and ten minutes.
The Tesla Model S was plugged in for 12 hours, 48 minutes, and 19 seconds throughout the trip, shattering the previous record of an EV driving across the United States by over five hours.
The EV6 is a fantastic mid-sized crossover EV that is unquestionably one of the best in terms of charging speed and practicality. Kia claims that the EV6 can add 80.4672 km (50 miles) of range in just five minutes, and the battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes when plugged in at DC fast-charging ports with a power of up to 350kW.
Kia’s Vice President of Marketing, Russell Wager, remarked that, “The EV6’s record-setting run is the latest signal that Kia will be a leader in the popularization of EVs. All of Kia’s world-class engineering and experience in EVs will be applied in the move to electrification. The same attention to detail, design, quality, technology, and driving dynamics that Kia has become known for will be found in every new electric vehicle we bring to market.”
This is Kia’s first vehicle under its Plan S strategy, which was revealed on January 14, 2020 and aims to position Kia as a leader in the future automotive industry.
The Carbon Trust has awarded the EV6 the product carbon footprint certification as well as the ‘Carbon Measured’ mark, making it the first Korean automaker to receive this recognition.
In view of the major shift in the EV business, Kia recently revealed its intention to launch its fourth vehicle, the ‘Carens,’ in India rather than globally.
