The 10th edition of the “Dami Le Watani” (My Blood, For My Country) Blood Donation Campaign, which was launched on June 13th under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, came to a close today, Monday, at Expo 2020 Dubai.
During his visit to the campaign site at Expo 2020, H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, was present and made a gift.
Dr Mai Raouf, Director of the DHA’s Dubai Blood Donation Centre said: “We decided to hold the closing day of the campaign at Expo 2020 Dubai, to develop societal awareness on the importance of blood donation whether from citizens, residents or foreign communities living in the UAE”.
“The 10th edition of the campaign, which was launched in June, has proven its success in attracting more than 17K donors and collecting around 17K blood units from eligible donors” She Said.
“Every blood bag given by a donor contributes to saving three lives, so it is always important to raise the public awareness regarding the importance of donation and encourage people to take part in such noble and humanitarian act” She added.
