On June 26, 2023, Google will stop publishing YouTube stories, nearly six years after their debut.
Reason To End YouTube Stories Feature
Google informed customers via a notice on its help page that the Stories function was being discontinued in favor of other options including Community postings, Shorts, Live, etc.

The ability to create a YouTube Story won’t be available after June 26. After seven days from the day of creation, the stories that have already been created will expire.
Google recently removed the requirement that the Community tab be enabled by at least 500 subscribers in order to promote the Community post functionality.
In addition to new features like polls, quizzes, filters, and stickers, YouTube has included some of the popular elements of Stories into these Community postings, including powerful editing capabilities and the option for posts to expire after 24 hours.
“With new features for both Shorts and Community posts to be announced throughout the year, we are committed to investing in new and innovative tools to help you grow your audiences across the platform,” the announcement said.
When the Stories feature debuted in 2017, it was claimed that Snapchat had stolen it.
