X, previously known as Twitter, has been home to many NSFW (not safe for work) communities. The platform has allowed adult content without clearly stating whether it’s allowed or not.
Now, under Elon Musk’s leadership, X says it’s okay to post adult content. But it must be consensual and clearly marked. This includes adult content made with AI.
This change isn’t a surprise. X has thought about supporting adult content before. The company thinks porn can be art. Here’s what X’s rules about adult content say:
“We think people can create, share, and see sexual content if everyone agrees. Sex is an art form. We balance this with rules that keep kids and some adults from seeing it.”
X’s rules for violent content are similar. The site says no to really gory or sexual violence. It also says no to content that tells people to be violent.
The company says it’s okay to show graphic content so people can talk about current events. But they need to use real pictures and videos.
People on the site can say their posts have private things in them. Young people or people who didn’t say when they were born can’t see those posts.
