A recent PTA report shows how social media blocks bad content. Between January 2021 and June 2024, X (formerly Twitter) had the lowest rate. X processed 69,372 URLs but only blocked 41,414. This gives X a compliance rate of 59.70%.
TikTok had the highest rate. It blocked 107,003 out of 109,359 URLs. This means TikTok blocked 97.85% of the flagged content. TikTok is far ahead in blocking content.
Facebook also did well. It blocked 79,904 out of 94,141 URLs. This results in a 84.88% compliance rate. Instagram was close behind. It blocked 18,260 out of 21,333 URLs, giving it a 85.60% rate.
YouTube and Likee showed high compliance too. YouTube blocked 36,351 out of 41,954 URLs, with an 86.64% rate. Likee blocked 5,530 out of 5,760 URLs, achieving a 96.01% rate.
Dailymotion and SnackVideo had lower rates but still did well. Dailymotion blocked 23 out of 32 URLs, with a 71.88% rate. SnackVideo blocked 6,829 out of 7,241 URLs, giving it a 94.31% rate.
The PTA’s flagged content includes various types like immoral, anti-Islamic, and defamatory content.
