In Shanghai, China launched Adora Magic City, also known as “Mo Du,” its first domestically built cruise ship. This cruise ship is thought to be the first 5G ship in the world.

When fully occupied, it has 2,125 rooms and can accommodate approximately 5,246 passengers. Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, began construction on the ship in 2019.
According to Chinese People’s Daily and Global Times reports, the Adora Magic City is an extremely complex product with over 25 million individual parts.
With five times and thirteen times the number of individual parts, respectively, it is more complex than China’s first domestic aircraft, the C919, and the “Fuxing” bullet train. The cruise ship will go through two sea trials in July and August before going into commercial service next year.
