The Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency, or TEPA, is set to significantly improve traffic signals in Lahore. This major upgrade includes installing a modern Pelican system throughout the provincial capital. This move aims to make city travel smoother for everyone.
Key Decision Makers Meet
A recent review meeting at the TEPA office finalized this important decision. The session was led by the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General, Tahir Farooq. They carefully reviewed plans for placing these advanced traffic signals at twenty key road junctions.
Introducing Modern Technology
TEPA Chief Engineer, Iqrar Hussain, confirmed the project will grow after a successful test run at Faisal Chowk. The new signals will feature a video vehicle detection system. This modern technology will greatly improve how traffic is managed across Lahore’s busy routes.
Focus on Pedestrian Convenience
The upgraded Pelican system will make crossing roads much safer and easier for people on foot. Officials confirmed that these modern signals will connect with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, or PSCA, system. This linkage will ensure better coordination with the traffic police.
