Three more ex-army officers detained
Three more ex-army officers personnel have been arrested so far and the court martial trials against the former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed are ongoing. As stated by the ISPR, these latest steps belong to a large operational investigation of the activities regarded as violations of military discipline.
The ISPR informed the nation that the three ex-army officers are facing probing for the performances that violated military code of ethics and that fuelled political misbalances. These officers were arrested because of what they are believed to have planned on behalf of certain political interests, with the likely view of derailing the nation. The ISPR added that the probe is also being conducted against these retired officers and those associated with them.
The ISPR also disclosed that among the three officers detained in military custody are a two Brigadiers and a Colonel. Brigadiers Ghaffar and Naeem were arrested among the three named persons, both of whom have strong connections with Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed and are also termed as ‘favorites.” After their retirement both these officers had been assigned political mobilization and message keeping services to a political group as well as networking with Lt General (retd) Faiz Hameed.
The ISPR also pointed out that it is probing the probe to reveal the extent of all the said retired officers and their associates’ complicity. This action also points at how the military value discipline including among its retired officers.
Earlier on August 12 former ISI chief Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed was put into military remand as Pakistan Army started the process of FGCM to nail down the charges leveled on him. ISPR said that a comprehensive court of inquiry was conducted as per the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, conducted and disciplinary action under the Pakistan Army Act has been initiated.
