The Weekend Announces Return to Australia for After Hours
Grammy Award Winning global superstar The Weekend will make his long-awaited return to Australia for the After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour. The triple threat posed and purred the news to his 4.2 million followers on Monday by revealing he will perform at Sydney’s Marvel Stadium October mania and Melbourne’s Accor Stadium in October this year
The Weekend’s post quickly went viral, and his caption read: “AUSTRALIA I didn’t forget about you.” The news was met with a combination of excitement and disappointment from fans, some upset that Brisbane and New Zealand are not part of his tour announcement. Along with an image of the chart, one fan wrote on Instagram: “But what the bloody hell happened in Brisbane?”
That being said, the announcement has got his longstanding fans excited for another opportunity to catch him in action and these diehard followers have taken social media by storm. He last toured Australia as part of the Starboy World Tour in 2017 so fans have been eagerly waiting for his return.
The recent world tour of The Weeknd has seen record-breaking success everywhere he went. He broke the record and again became a newly signed artist in London, Live In Concert 2023 at Wembley stadium with an attendance of almost 80,000 people on one night and nearly 160 thousand across two nights.
After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour tickets on sale for the general public beginning at Noon local time Thursday, August 26. Given demand and from his successful previous tours fans are going to be clamouring for those tickets when they go on sale.
It comes comes after the Canadian cancelled a visit to see his fans in Australia last year, and is being spun as The Weekend‘s first ever tour of our shores following its postponement. The Weekend is headed back to Australia, which is no small feat given last minute cancellations and a safe distance from our borders.
