Suzuki Motor Corporation has agreed to manufacture “flying cars” at a Shizuoka Suzuki plant in Japan beginning in Spring 2024. SkyDrive is a Japanese corporation headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture.

The two companies will collaborate on the development of an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The internet insists on calling it a “flying car,” despite the fact that it does not resemble a car and does not function like one.

Electric power systems provide numerous advantages to eVTOLs. Traditional aircraft are noisy, inefficient, and environmentally hazardous.
eVTOLs are ideal for urban and other limited-space operations. eVTOL design and implementation, however, face battery life, safety, air traffic management, and regulatory challenges.
Suzuki’s eVTOL weighs 1,400 kg and has rotor dimensions of 13m x 13m. The company has given it 12 rotors, which allow for a cruising speed of 100 km/h and a range of up to 15 km.

A pilot and two passengers can fit in the cockpit. The flying car is designed specifically for tourists and sightseers. However, due to the limited range and power, the journeys are likely to be brief. The company has yet to announce a formal launch date or timeline for the flying car.
