In a significant development for Pakistan’s IT and Telecommunications sector, SpaceX’s Director of Global Licensing and Market Activation, Ryan Goodnight, met with Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications, Syed Aminul Haq, to discuss the registration of SpaceX’s Starlink.

According to the Minister, Starlink has registered with Pakistan’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SECP).
The purpose of the meeting was to investigate how Starlink’s fastest and cheapest satellite internet services could pave the way for affordable broadband services in every corner of Pakistan.
The Minister expressed confidence that Starlink’s services would significantly reduce telecom operators’ operational costs, even in remote areas where inactive mobile towers could be activated at a low cost.
“Our main objective is to provide broadband services to every corner of Pakistan at affordable tariffs,” said the Minister, adding, “Starlink can play an important role in this regard.”
Ryan Goodnight thanked the Minister for his full cooperation and appreciated Pakistan’s progress in the IT and Telecommunication sector. “Basic steps are complete, and now we are ready to go fast,” Ryan added.
This advancement has the potential to transform Pakistan’s telecommunications industry by providing faster and more affordable internet access, even in rural areas.
The successful implementation of Starlink’s services in Pakistan could be a significant step towards the goal of achieving a connected Pakistan.

The meeting’s agenda was to investigate how Starlink’s fastest and cheapest satellite internet services will change the overall way of providing affordable broadband services throughout Pakistan.
It has been revealed that Elon Musk’s Starlink requested a refundable deposit as a pre-order for service/equipment. However, the PTA requested that pre-order bookings be discontinued.
The Minister expressed confidence that inactive mobile towers, even in remote locations, could be inexpensively activated. Starlink’s services will significantly reduce telecom operators’ operational costs.
Currently, Starlink provides international broadband services via 2,000 satellites that serve nearly 10,000 regular customers spread across a dozen countries.
