Snap is apparently working on a premium membership service that will provide users early access to features and other perks.
Snap spokesperson Liz Markman confirmed to The Verge that Snapchat Plus is still in the early stages of internal testing, and that the company is excited about the opportunity to share exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features with subscribers while also learning how they can best serve their community.
Additional Snapchat Plus features include the ability to pin a friend as your #1 BFF, access to exclusive Snapchat icons, the ability to display a badge in your profile, and the ability to see your friends’ whereabouts over the past 24 hours (as long as they agree to share their location with you), according to a Twitter post from leaker Alessandro Paluzzi.
Paluzzi also stated that monthly cost might be as low as 4.59 eruo or 45.99 euro for a year, which translates to $4.81 and $48.21, respectively.
iOS 14.5’s privacy restrictions dealt a hit to free applications that relied on targeted adverts for income, which explains why we’re witnessing a shift in revenue models to subscriptions.
