According to the Sindh government’s evacuation plan, as many as 50,000 people will be removed from the villages in District Badin in order to prevent any loss in the wake of the approaching tropical cyclone Biparjoy.
The Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS), which has been moving farther north over the past 12 hours, is now located roughly 600 kilometers south of Karachi, 580 kilometers south of Thatta, and 710 km southeast of Ormara.
“The ESCS Biparjoy is most likely to track further Northward until 14 June morning, then recurve Northeastward and cross between Keti Bandar (Southeast Sindh) and Indian Gujarat coast on 15 June afternoon as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS),” Pakistan Meteorological Department‘s latest update on the storm stated.
Evacuation Sindh’s Coastal Areas Due To Cyclone Biparjoy
The government made the decision to evacuate the residential areas and other human settlements close to Sindh’s shore in light of the mounting threat posed by tropical storm Biparjoy, which is currently located in the Arabian Sea.
At least 2,000 residents of the island of Shah Bandar were relocated to safe locations as part of the evacuation drive, which got underway from Badin’s coastal neighborhoods.
Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, paid a visit to the Shah Bandar area of the district together with Nasir Shah, the minister for local bodies, and Sohail Rajput, the chief secretary of Sindh.

Following the visit, the chief minister presided over a meeting at Sujawal’s 31 Creek Conference Room to discuss plans for lessening the impact of Biparjoy in the coastal zone.
The Hyderabad commissioner explained the evacuation process to the CM and stated that it started in the village of Bhagra Memon, which is Badin’s zero-point location. He declared that 50,000 residents of the villages of Shah Bandar, Jati, and Keti Bandar will be evacuated.
According to information provided to the chief minister, Biparjoy will hit the coast of Sindh on June 15 but will weaken by June 17 or 18.
However, when the storm arrives, the ocean will surge because the wavelength will increase to 4 to 5 metres.
At a meeting on Sunday presided over by Karachi Commissioner Iqbal Memon, where participants discussed preventative measures for the cyclone, it was decided to evacuate some neighborhoods.
Sardar Sarfaraz, the chief meteorologist for Sindh, and other pertinent representatives were present during the conference.
By tomorrow (June 13), when the storm is anticipated to approach the coast, the relevant authorities have been ordered to put the evacuation plan into action in cooperation with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The evacuation plan includes Baba Bhit, Mubarak Village, Ibrahim Hydri Village, the harbour, and other low-lying settlements along the coastal strip.
The meeting instructed the deputy commissioners for Keamari, Malir, South, and Korangi to make sure that everyone living in the aforementioned areas had been evacuated by the deadline and sent to safe locations or relief camps created to help evacuees.
