The Sindh government has started the second phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme to help women travel safely and independently. Announced by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, the project aims to support working women and female students by giving them pink scooters, free driving lessons, and licences. The initiative shows the government’s commitment to improving women’s access to education and employment.
Encouraging Women to Join the Programme
During the launch event, Sharjeel Memon urged women to actively register and take advantage of the new phase. He highlighted the importance of women gaining driving skills and official licences for their own safety and convenience. “The Sindh government wants more women to benefit from this facility and continue their studies and work with confidence,” Memon stated during his address.
Successful Response from the First Phase
The first phase of the Pink Scooty Scheme had received great appreciation from women across Sindh. Many participants completed their training and started using scooters for their daily journeys. This positive response encouraged the government to expand the programme further. The scooters provided not only freedom of movement but also a sense of empowerment among women from different walks of life.

Part of a Broader Transport Vision
The Pink Scooty Scheme is a part of the province’s wider transport reform plan, which includes the People’s Bus Service, the Pink Bus Service, and the Electric Bus Service. These initiatives aim to make commuting easier, safer, and more affordable for all citizens. By linking these efforts, the government hopes to build a balanced transport network that addresses the unique needs of women.
Continuing Benazir Bhutto’s Vision of Equality
Sharjeel Memon described the Pink Scooty initiative as a continuation of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s dream of empowering women in Pakistan. He said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always believed in gender equality and women’s freedom of mobility. By expanding this scheme, the Sindh government is taking a meaningful step toward creating a society where women can move freely, safely, and proudly in their daily lives.
