Samsung revealed the official introduction of their top gaming monitor, the Odyssey Neo G9 57′′, at Gamescom 2023. This behemoth of a monitor was first exhibited in January at CES 2023.
Odyssey Neo G9 57′′
The Odyssey Neo G9 57′′, also known as the G95NC, is equipped with a VA-type LCD panel with a resolution of 7680 x 2160 and a curvature of 1000R. This results in a 32:9 aspect ratio display, which is equivalent to two 16:9 4K monitors combined.
57-Inch Measurement
It’s worth noting that the 57-inch measurement is directly related to the ultra-wide aspect ratio and should not be compared to displays with other aspect ratios.
Despite being this large and having such a high resolution, the monitor maintains an outstanding 240Hz refresh rate. This means that the screen has around 4 billion pixels that are refreshed every second.
DisplayPort 2.1
The G95NC is equipped with DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 connections, allowing for this incredible combination of resolution and refresh rate.
Although Samsung does not specify the exact bandwidth of these connectors, it is worth noting that no connector currently exists that inherently supports such a massive data transfer rate (exceeding 100Gbps) without the use of Display Stream Compression – a capability that this monitor does indeed have.
Despite the lack of a modern OLED panel, the G95NC features Samsung’s Quantum Matrix Technology, which is supplemented by mini-LED backlighting.
This configuration has 2392 local dimming zones and is certified by VESA DisplayHDR 1000, ensuring greater visual accuracy.
Furthermore, the panel has a fast 1ms response time (GTG) and a matte coating for decreased glare. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57′′ will be available in October for $2500.
