Qatar has been chosen to host the 2027 Men’s Basketball World Cup, making it the country’s first time hosting the prestigious event.
Doha will host all 32-team games. After upgrading its underground and public transportation networks for the men’s football World Cup last year, the International Basketball Federation announced that Qatari will host another World Cup. Last autumn, the Middle Eastern country hosted the football World Cup, the world’s largest sporting event.

Middle Eastern has earned a reputation for hosting major worldwide sporting events, most recently the men’s FIFA World Cup in November and December of last year.
The decision to give Qatari the 2027 Basketball World Cup reflects the country’s rising status as a major athletic event host.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) made the news after it was chosen to host the tournament following a successful proposal.
They will host the tournament for the first time as a result of this. The matches are expected to take place at existing basketball stadiums in Doha, Qatar’s capital city.
The women’s version of the tournament will be hosted in Germany in 2026, highlighting the sport’s global reach and popularity.
It should also be remembered that the 2023 Men’s Basketball World Cup will be held in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan from August 25 to September 10.
