PureVPN has added a quantum-resistant feature to its OpenVPN protocol to provide its users with more protection and privacy than ever before in preparation for a post-quantum future.
PureVPN has teamed up with Quantinuum, an integrated quantum computing firm, to roll out quantum-resistant encryption keys across its VPN service.
The VPN provider was able to build and deploy encryption keys using Quantinuum’s Quantum Origin technology, which are generated using a verifiable quantum method, making them more secure than keys generated using unverified, classical processes.
PureVPN will future-proof its service and consumers by employing Quantinuum’s technology to protect their privacy and data from dangers that will arise once quantum computers become ubiquitous.
“To put it in perspective, mathematical problems that would currently take a traditional supercomputer until the end of time will be solved by a quantum computer in a matter of hours,” said Uzair Gadit, co-founder and CEO of PureVPN, in a press release on the threat posed to encryption by quantum computers becoming more accessible and commercially available.
That is the extent of the technology’s power. Quantum computers will surpass even today’s most powerful supercomputers, implying that all current encryption techniques will be compromised in the near future.”
