The government of Punjab has taken a significant step towards bettering the living conditions of workers by raising the monthly minimum wage to Rs. 32,000.
The decision to impose this new wage rate was made by the minimum wage board at a meeting presided over by the labor secretary.
The meeting also directed publication of this draft order establishing a minimum monthly wage in the official gazette.
Daily Wage Increase by Govt. of Punjab
It was brought up in the conference that daily wage earners have been adversely affected by inflation, which causes workers to go out looking for job early in the morning yet come home with nothing.
The employees talked about how tough it was for them to make ends meet because of the growing cost of living.
In the past, workers would sit by the side of the road and demand that the government take action to lower inflation and give daily wage workers relief packages.
