The PML-N government will present its first budget for 2024-25 in the Punjab Assembly on June 13. Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman will present the budget.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Mohammad Ahmad Khan will lead the session. The budget presentation will start at 2pm on Thursday.
Sources said the FY25 will be around Rs 5392 billion. This is 20.3 percent more than last year. The federal government will give Rs 3700 billion. The provincial government will generate Rs 1027 billion.
The government will allocate Rs 800 billion for development schemes. Health and education will get Rs 600 and Rs 406 billion respectively.
The Ramazan package will get Rs 30 billion. Salaries will cost Rs 597 billion. Pensions will cost Rs 447 billion.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said the government will not give funds to any Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA).
She responded to former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail’s claim about fund distribution to MPAs. Bokhari assured that funds will not be used for political interests.
She called Miftah Ismail’s statement irresponsible. She said the government saved Rs 530 billion by stopping unnecessary schemes.
The PML-N government aims to improve the province’s economy. The FY25 will support health and education. It will also focus on development schemes.
The government will not misuse funds. The budget reflects the government’s priorities. It aims to benefit the people of Punjab.
