The National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC), a centralized platform for the management of cybersecurity issues in the telecom industry, has been launched by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
According to a news release published on Tuesday, the NTSOC was created under the Pakistan National Cybersecurity Policy 2021 and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA 2016) with the aim of protecting Pakistan’s vital telecom data and infrastructure against cyber-attacks.
After the publication of the Cybersecurity Policy, the NTSOC became Pakistan’s first sectoral Security Operations Center.
NTSOC framework for boosting Cybersecurity
It is made up of three essential parts that have been locally modified to raise the nation’s cybersecurity standing: Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM), Threat Intelligence, and Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR).
The national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and telecom operators’ SOCs would be integrated with the NTSOC, enabling rapid and efficient incident response.
With the others coming gradually, the NTSOC has integrated six telecom operators.
The offered solution underwent ongoing improvements as part of the project to stay up with changing cybersecurity risks.
