The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has announced a strict new rule regarding mobile SIM usage nationwide. From now on, using a SIM card registered in another person’s name is illegal. This decision aims to bring clarity, order, and responsibility in telecom services while protecting users from misuse, fraud, and legal trouble nationwide, with effective enforcement immediately.
SIM Registration Under Actual User Required
The PTA has made it compulsory for every mobile connection to be registered under the actual user’s identity. Consumers have been clearly advised to check all active SIMs in their possession. Any number found under someone else’s name must be corrected to avoid future issues, sudden service blockage penalties, legal risks, inconvenience, delays nationwide.

According to the official statement, accountability will rest entirely with the registered SIM holder. All calls, messages, and internet activity linked to a number will be traced to the person on record.
