The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to advance information technology and accelerate digital transformation received the Federal Cabinet’s approval via summary release.
In order to foster innovation, advance digital infrastructure, and strengthen both countries’ digital economies, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) in Pakistan is planning to establish a strategic partnership with the Saudi Arabian government body in charge of international cooperation in the ICT sector.

The main goal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the area of information and communication technology (ICT), according to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication.
By working together, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia hope to quicken the speed of digital change, encourage digital innovation, and build a solid digital infrastructure based on the values of equality and reciprocity.
In addition to the digital economy, connectivity, ICT capacity building, academia, the startup ecosystem, venture capital, e-governance, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, the internet of things, robotics, cloud computing, gaming, and blockchain, the collaboration will cover a variety of areas of shared interest.
All formalities mentioned in the Business 1973 guidelines that were required to be fulfilled in order for this endeavor to be realized have been done so.
The appropriate Saudi Arabian authorities gave their assent to the conditions of the MoU after rigorous negotiation and mutual agreement amongst the relevant ministries.
A “No Objection Certificate” has also been provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make the signing of the MoU easier.
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication judged the Ministry of Law & Justice’s adjustments to the draught to be modest and finally decided to move through with the original version that had been approved by Saudi officials.
It is important to note that this historic information technology project between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is prepared to expand the boundaries of technical development, knowledge exchange, and innovation.
