Rachael Lillis, a voice actress, passed away at 46 from breast cancer. She voiced Pokémon characters like Misty and Jessie. Veronica Taylor, who voices Ash Ketchum, shared the sad news.
Taylor praised Lillis’s talent and bright spirit. She said Lillis’s voice shone in her roles. Taylor mentioned Lillis’s comic timing and acting skills. Lillis voiced characters on Pokémon from 1997 to 2015. She also voiced Jigglypuff in Detective Pikachu and Super Smash Bros.
Lillis battled cancer with much support. Taylor said it made a positive difference for her. Lillis’s sister, Laurie Orr, confirmed her death. She shared the news on a fundraising site for Lillis’s treatment. Orr wrote,
“This was unexpected. We are completely grief-stricken.” She added, “My heart breaks losing my dear sister. I am comforted knowing she is free.”
Lillis was born in Niagara Falls, New York, in 1978. She trained in opera at university before becoming a voice actor. She brought joy to many with her voice. Lillis’s voice appeared in 423 episodes of Pokémon. Her work filled Saturday mornings and after-school hours for many fans.
A memorial service is being planned. Fans and colleagues mourn her loss. She will be remembered for her many roles and bright spirit. Lillis’s talent touched many lives. She will be deeply missed.
