Massive financial losses have been discovered by Pakistan’s Auditor General (AGP) at the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) headquarters in London, United Kingdom (UK).
According to the information, the London office’s poor administration cost the national exchequer 2.71 billion rupees.
According to the AGP report, PIA was penalized around Rs. 2.71 billion between 2017 and 2021 as a result of the workers of the national airlines’ ineptitude, ignorance, and inadequate preparation.
The study states that fines for the loss and theft of traveler luggage at airports as well as during transit were paid in the form of damages.
Additionally, steps have been taken to hold those accountable for the losses accountable, and it has been suggested that money be recovered from them.
According to reports, PIA has reportedly lost around Rs. 204.6 billion over the past four years, primarily as a result of coronavirus-related restrictions, the European Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) ban on its flight operations to Europe, and Saudi Arabia’s suspension of the Hajj and Umrah.
It is important to note that PIA experienced shocking losses of Rs. 43.48 billion from January through June this year, a 64 percent increase over the losses of approximately Rs. 26.53 billion in the same period last year.
