During the National T20 tournament in Karachi, middle-order batter Azam Khan violated clothing and equipment standards by wearing an unauthorized emblem or political messaging.
As a result, PCB fined 50% of his match fees.
PCB Fined Azam Khan For Displaying Palestinian Flag on His Bat
During the Karachi Whites against Lahore Blues National T20 match, Azam Khan flew the flag of Palestine on his bat.
The flashy hitter, who represents Karachi, scored 35 runs on Sunday, November 26, against Lahore, prior to call upon by match referee Mohammad Javed.
The young batter fined 50% of his match money, according to official who spoke to a local news station.
ICC Code of Conduct
The referee had earlier cautioned Azam Khan that it would be against the ICC code of conduct, to which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is also a signatory, to display the unauthorized logo, which is Palestine’s flag, on his bat.
Sources claim that Azam Khan told the referee that his bats were all marked with the same stickers.
According to the ICC rule regarding apparel and equipment, athletes are not permitted to wear or show any slogans that promote political, religious, or racial causes or activities.
PCB Statement
According to a PCB official, Azam Khan accused of breaking rules regarding attire and equipment.
The same sticker was on Azam’s bat during two previous National T20 Cup games, according to the sources.
Still, nobody had forewarned him prior to yesterday’s game.
During the ICC WC 2023, Rizwan dedicated his game-winning strike against Sri Lanka to the people of Gaza last month.
The PCB requested that the wicketkeeper-batter take down his social media post, in which he paid tribute to the Palestinian people who massacred by Israel in light of the team’s historic victory over Sri Lanka.
