The federal government of Pakistan has decided to construct the University Town in Islamabad. The project of constructing the University Town was confirmed through the announcement of the Islamabad Vision 2027 project. The Islamabad project was confirmed by the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, who said that the University Town will be constructed to offer modern facilities to students from across the country. The project is constructed as part of the long-term strategy of the federal government to improve the education sector of Islamabad.
Objectives and Vision
As per the statement given by the Interior Minister, University Town is expected to support and enhance the standards and quality of education, research, and innovations in Islamabad. State of the art class and laboratory facilities, libraries, and host facilities will enable a central facility for learning and attract students across the country to enhance the overall standards of education in Pakistan.
Integration with Islamabad Vision 2027
Minister Naqvi pointed out that “this is part of a larger vision for Islamabad known as Vision 2027. This vision entails not only modernizing Quaid-i-Azam University as a whole I am talking about something as basic as a redesign of a main entrance or modernizing an auditorium but it entails a whole array of other projects as well that relate to educational infrastructure and urban development in Islamabad.”
Expected Impact
The University Town is expected to bring a positive change to the lives of students, researchers, and the country’s economy in general. It will encourage research, innovation, and talent development through high-class amenities and a conducive environment that brings academics together. Minister Naqvi said that this project is part of Pakistan’s larger vision of providing ‘internationally competitive educational opportunities and a state-of-the-art hub of learning and innovation.’
