Pakistan Railways intends to implement a gradual transition to solar power for all of its stations. Which including main railway stations, offices, workshops, and factories.
The department is anticipated to save billions of rupees as a result of this initiative. According to an official from the Ministry of Railways.

During the initial phase, solar energy will be implemented in approximately 99 formations. Which include nine divisional headquarters, key railway stations, and other critical offices.
This alone is anticipated to result in a savings of Rs. 1.8 billion for the department.
Pakistan Railways will leverage the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK)’s solar power conversion expertise in a collaborative effort.
It is anticipated that the solar power conversion plan will encompass supplementary stations, offices, and facilities in subsequent phases.

Recently, Pakistan Railways made the decision to implement an E-office system. In order to improve efficiency, transparency, and paper usage by enhancing its digital capabilities and streamlining internal processes.

The E-office system replaces conventional manual file management with a more efficient electronic system, thereby improving overall transparency in operations and benefiting users.
Furthermore, advancements have been made in the development of an application for the management of journalist concession cards. Which has been incorporated with the centralized reservation centre to facilitate the processing of data.

The Directorate of IT has implemented a Network Monitoring System (NMS) to monitor the railway network. Additionally, this system evaluates network efficacy to guarantee consistent performance.
