Under the more stringent 2021-2025 evaluation method, the fourth-generation Toyota Yaris received a five-star rating from ASEAN NCAP.

According to the ASEAN NCAP report, the Malaysian Vios G model was tested. Other Thai-made Yaris are rated for Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, and Cambodia.

The Yaris earned 35.25 out of 40 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), whereas the B-segment sedan scored 16.64 out of 20 in Child Occupant Protection (COP).
Yaris received 16.08 points out of a possible 20 for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and 10.73 points for motorcycle safety (MS). The 2023 Toyota Yaris received 78.70 points overall and earned a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating.
The previous generation Toyota Yaris received only one star from Latin NCAP.
According to the report, the vehicle got 41.43% for Adult Occupant Safety, 63.85% for Child Occupant Safety, 61.63% for Pedestrian and Vulnerable Users Safety, and 41.86% for Safety Assist.
The 2017 Toyota Yaris has made significant improvements in terms of safety, earning an NCAP rating that places it in the company of luxury vehicles.
