Pakistan’s standout pacer, Naseem Shah, is one of the country’s brightest prospects. The right-arm pacer is the ninth-youngest player in international Test cricket to take a five-wicket haul and the second-youngest bowler in red-ball cricket.
In the ongoing third Test match between Australia and Pakistan, the teenager has joined the list of adolescent fast bowlers who have taken four or more wickets in a Test innings. Shahid Afridi, a former leg spinner, and Mohammad Amir, a former pacer, are the other two bowlers.
The emerging star bowled brilliantly on the opening two days of the series-deciding Test match. He took the vital wickets of Steven Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, and Nathan Lyon while giving 58 runs.
Shahid Afridi became the first Pakistani teenager to take five wickets against Australia in a Test match. In his first encounter at the National Stadium Karachi, the leg spinner got five wickets for 52 runs in the first innings. The match, on the other hand, finished in a stalemate.
In a Test match against Australia, Mohammad Amir was the only teenage Pakistani bowler to take four or more wickets. Initially, the left-arm bowler took 5/79 at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In a match against Australia in Leeds, Amir took four wickets and conceded 86 runs. In the second Test match of the series, Amir dominated the Australian batters. He scored 4/72 at Lords. At The GABBA in Brisbane, Amir took 4/97 in the third Test of the 2016 series.
