Lots of people in Pakistan couldn’t go on Facebook on Tuesday and Wednesday. Some internet companies didn’t let people use Facebook. People on a website called X also said they couldn’t use Facebook. Some wondered if the government did something to stop Facebook like they did on X.
Official observer in Pakistan who observes Pakistani social media platforms, called Down Detector, saw many complaints. The problems started late at night on Monday. More complaints came again on Wednesday afternoon.
Netblocks, a group that watches the internet, said many companies in Pakistan had limits. They said Facebook wasn’t working with many companies in Pakistan. The X stop started on February 17. They did this on Ashura. On Ashura, leaders often limit phone internet.
Meta has Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. Meta has a screen to watch problems. But the screen said no problems with Facebook logins.
The Facebook problem was on Muharram 10. Many groups remember Imam Hussain (RA). There was a lot of safety. They stopped phones in some places.
On July 4, Punjab leaders wrote to the federal inside group. They wanted to stop all social media. They wanted to stop YouTube and Facebook from Muharram 6 to Muharram 11. They were worried about safety. But they denied.
The last time Facebook stopped was on March 5. All the screens, Meta, Netblocks, and Down Detector saw it.
X stays stopped in Pakistan. The government said X could hurt safety in Pakistan.
