According to a report in the local media, the Major Cricket League (MCL) has formally requested permission from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include Pakistani players in the league’s debut season. The MLC tournament, featuring six teams, will be held in Dallas from July 13th through the 30th.
The PCB agreed to the request from the MCL’s administration, but only under one condition: that the MCL’s management pay $25,000 per player for their participation in the league.
The Major Cricket League administration has asked for more time to think about this demand. Many of the world’s best players have committed to competing in the six-team MLC event, which will be held in Dallas from July 13-30.
Other players are also participating in the league
Jason Roy has opted out of his incremental contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in order to participate in the new Twenty20 tournament being launched in the United States.
Both parties have mutually agreed that “the ECB have agreed for him to play in the competition (MLC) provided that he gives up the remainder of his ECB incremental contract,” the ECB announced on Thursday.
The ECB would like to make it clear that Jason’s continued eligibility for future England team selection has not been affected by this decision. We are convinced, without a shadow of a doubt, that Jason will remain dedicated to the England cricket team.
Roy made a public declaration that he would never “walk away from England” on social media.
The ECB has been very open and encouraging about my plans to play in Major League Cricket. As long as they didn’t have to pay me for the rest of the contractual year, the ECB were fine with me playing in the competition, Roy stated.
