K-Electric’s (KE) power distribution and supply licences have been extended by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for a further 20 years.
KE’s 20-years licence
This non-exclusive licence renewal comes after KE requested one prior to the power sector’s liberalisation. In July 2023, KE’s previous 20-year licence came to an end.
Six-month Interim Distribution
Following that, NEPRA granted KE a six-month interim distribution licence, which was about to expire in January 2024.
The decision to renew came after a thorough hearing that was finished on November 28, 2023. Following the hearing, Nepra has given K-Electric permission to carry on with its power supply activities in Uthal, Bela, Vinder, Hub, Dhabeji, and Gharo.
