Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 series is expected to receive several upgrades over its predecessor, including a build update.
Upcoming iPhone 15 Series
According to an industry insider, the iPhone 15 Pro models will be made of Grade 5 titanium for added durability.
Using titanium instead of stainless steel on smartphones has several advantages, including increased durability and reduced weight.
This would reduce the weight of the iPhone Pro Max, which is known for being one of the heaviest phones on the market.
However, titanium is more expensive than steel, which may explain why the new Pro models are expected to be more expensive this time.
However, if Apple is using titanium for its Pro phones, it could mean that it is sticking with stainless steel for its standard iPhones, further separating the two tiers.
The Cupertino company started this trend with the iPhone 14 lineup last year, keeping more premium materials to the Pro models.
The new A16 Bionic chip was only available on the Pro phones, leaving the vanilla and Plus models with the older A15 SoC. The same is true for Dynamic Island, which is now expected to be available on less expensive iPhones as well.
If this trend continues, we may see the titanium build migrate to regular iPhones next year, along with new chipsets and other features.
