According to Radio Pakistan, Guterres has urged developed countries to drastically reduce emissions and to assist countries such as Pakistan in rebuilding.
He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for generously hosting Afghan refugees.
According to the publication, the UN secretary general stated that he will do his best to raise awareness about Pakistan’s situation and “mobilize the entire UN system” in support of the country. PM Shehbaz thanked Guterres for his empathy and support for the people of Pakistan in his remarks.
According to Radio Pakistan: “The prime minister said the federal and provincial governments and all stakeholders including the armed forces are working together to provide relief and rescue to 33 million affected people.”
It quoted Prime Minister Shehbaz as saying that the government’s rescue and relief efforts are underway and that affected people have been relocated to safe areas.
The premier also stated that food and shelter are being provided, but there are significant challenges. The prime minister thanked all the countries that have come forward with donations during this critical time.

He emphasized the importance of international assistance as Pakistan begins its reconstruction and rehabilitation phase.
He stated that the country is doing the best it can with the resources it has and is determined to overcome all obstacles.
Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Planning and Development, stated that an assessment of the damages caused by the devastating floods will be completed soon. He stated that the floods have had a significant impact on the economy’s growth.
