Apple will soon release new Apple Intelligence features. They announced these features in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference. Right now, only developer beta versions of iOS 18.1 have these features including Siri. If you do not want bugs, wait for the public beta or the final release.
To use Apple Intelligence, set your language to U.S. English. Also, set your region to the U.S. This will not change your App Store region or purchases.
Here’s how to use Siri:
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- Tap “Join the Apple Intelligence waitlist.”
- Wait for approval. You will get a notification when ready. Downloading all models and data may take time. You can turn off Apple Intelligence anytime in the menu.
Apple’s AI works on your device and through the Apple Private Cloud. The waitlist ensures the service can handle everyone.
Apple Intelligence works only with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and M1 chip iPads and Macs.
Available Features:
New Siri: Siri has a new animation. Double-tap the bottom bar to text Siri in noisy places. Siri can understand if you change your mind mid-command. For example, “Hey Siri, set a 10-minute, no, 15-minute timer” will set a 15-minute timer.
How-to Questions: Ask Siri system-related questions like “How do I take a screen recording?”
Writing Tools: You can reformat any text. Use “Proofread” to check for errors. Use “Rewrite” to change the text without altering its meaning. Change the text tone to “Friendly,” “Professional,” or “Concise.” Summarize text to create lists, key points, or tables.
Mail App: The Mail app shows email summaries in one line. Important emails appear at the top. Use AI-generated smart replies to respond quickly.
Photos: Search for photos using natural language. Create memories through prompts.
Notification Summaries: Apple Intelligence shows summaries of some mail and message notifications.
Call Transcriptions: Record calls with a button tap. Recordings are stored in the “Call Recordings” folder in the Notes app.
Notes App Audio Support: Record and transcribe audio directly into the Notes app. The AI suite will automatically create a summary.
Apple Intelligence does not yet remove unwanted objects in photos, support emoji or image playgrounds, or interact with ChatGPT. No timeline is set for these features.
