Three people died. Seven others got injured. This happened in a horrific bomb explosion in Mardan, today on Friday in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A remote-controlled bomb was set on a bridge.
Police said unknown terrorists planned the bomb explosion work. They put the bomb near Jalala bridge. They blew it up when a police van passed by.
The blast damaged the police van. It also hit a rickshaw. Three people in the rickshaw died. Seven people got hurt. Two police officers were among them.
Police officer Khalid Khan confirmed this. He spoke to the media.
Police came fast to the scene. They started a search. Rescue teams took the injured to the hospital. Some went to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Takhtbhai. Injured police went to Mardan Medical Complex.
Mardan Police Chief Zahoor Barbar Afridi said the bomb was set off by remote control.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi spoke on social media. He condemned the blast. He felt sorry for the victims.
KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also spoke. He condemned the blast. He felt sorry for the families.
Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam also condemned it. He shared his condolences.
Earlier this week, another blast happened. It was in Kalat district. One security officer died. Four others got injured. This blast happened near an oil and gas site.
Terror incidents have increased in Pakistan. This started after Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan broke a truce in November 2022. They started targeting security personnel.
In response, Pakistan started Operation Azm-e-Istehkam last month. This operation aims to end terrorism and extremism.
