Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a public holiday on the Day of Arafah — June 28 (Wednesday) — just days after announcing a three-day Eid ul Adha holiday.

Earlier, the government approved a three-day holiday for Eid ul Adha, which will be celebrated on June 29, according to a Cabinet Division statement.
For general information, the Prime Minister is pleased to approve the following public holidays on the occasion:
29th and 30th June 2023 (Thursday and Friday) for offices that work five days a week; and 29th June to 1st July 2023 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) for offices that work six days a week.”
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon in Pakistan, indicating that Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 29 (Thursday) across the country.
The decision was made following a meeting of the moon sighting committee, which was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
The chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal committee stated that witnesses to moon sightings had come from a variety of cities, including Karachi, Lahore, and others.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, the Department of Meteorology, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. The decision was also made with input from Ruet-e-Hilal zonal committees that met in their respective cities.
