The government has introduced the Pak ID mobile application to make vehicle buying, selling, and transfer easier for citizens. This new digital system allows people in Pakistan and overseas Pakistanis to complete vehicle ownership transfers online with biometric verification.
The app has been developed by National Database and Registration Authority to reduce paperwork and prevent fraud. With this platform, users can simply enter the vehicle registration number, chassis number, and current owner details to begin the transfer process. The system then verifies the identity of the owner through biometric authentication before approving the transfer.
How the Pak ID App Works
Previously, overseas Pakistanis had to get authority letters verified by embassies to transfer vehicles. This process was time-consuming and required physical documents. Now, through the Pak ID app, the entire process can be completed online without visiting offices or submitting paper documents.
Officials explained that the digital system ensures only verified vehicle owners can approve transfers. This step greatly reduces the risk of forged documents and illegal vehicle sales. The app creates a secure and transparent process for everyone involved.
Key Benefits of the Pak ID App
Here is a simple table to understand the main advantages of the new system:
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Biometric Verification | Confirms real owner identity |
| Online Transfer | No need for physical visits |
| Digital Records | Reduces paperwork |
| Secure System | Prevents fraud and fake documents |
| Overseas Access | Easy for Pakistanis abroad |
A Step Toward Digital Governance
The launch ceremony was attended by DG Excise Umar Sher Chattha and NADRA Chief Project Officer Rehman Qamar. They highlighted how this app will modernize vehicle management in Pakistan.
The Pak ID platform is part of Pakistan’s wider move toward digital public services. By making vehicle transfers faster, safer, and more transparent, the government aims to improve ease of doing business and support overseas Pakistanis who previously faced many challenges.
