FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) channels are becoming more popular because to their combination of free familiar reruns and news programming.
Almost all new smart TVs include a selection of these channels, and both Roku and Amazon (via Fire TV) are strong supporters.
Google TV
Google is now more devoted than ever to linear FAST content. The search engine behemoth has added 800 new free-to-view channels to its lineup. As of today, Google TV is considerably expanding its FAST channel selections.
These channels will begin to emerge over the next few weeks, whether you’re watching on a Chromecast or a TV with the software. The deployment will begin in the United States, but other regions should follow suit quickly.
Google TV formerly featured Pluto TV FAST content but is now adding channels from Tubi, Plex, and Haystack News.
In addition, Google TV is introducing its own FAST channels, which may be accessed without the need for a separate app.
This extends the total number of free TV channels offered to consumers from numerous providers to over 800, all accessible via the live TV guide. Some channels, however, may still require the installation and use of accompanying apps in order to be accessed.
All Android TVs will be affected
Google is keen to prioritise FAST, and as a result, it has revealed plans to extend the TV guide and free channels to eligible Android TV devices later this year, demonstrating its dedication to the service.
This will be available not only on updated Google TV software, but also on Android TV-based hardware such as the Nvidia Shield TV.
