Google has raised cloud storage and AI subscription prices for users in Pakistan. This applies to both Google One storage plans and AI-integrated bundles. The company cites higher infrastructure and service costs as the main reason for the increase.
Basic Storage Plans Have Become More Expensive
The most common 100 GB Basic plan in Pakistan was previously PKR 219 per month but is now around PKR 419 per month, nearly doubling. Medium and high storage tiers, from 200 GB up to 30 TB, have also become significantly more expensive.
AI Bundles and Advanced Tools
Google has introduced AI-integrated subscription plans such as AI Pro and AI Ultra. These plans provide storage and advanced AI features like productivity tools and automation. Some Ultra-tier plans in Pakistan are priced up to PKR 70,000 per month.
Global Strategy and Local Impact
These price changes are part of Google’s global AI subscription strategy, which bundles AI features with cloud storage. In price-sensitive markets like Pakistan, the increases can have a noticeable impact on users’ monthly budgets.
Global vs Local Pricing Differences
In some international markets, AI Pro plans have been expanded to 5 TB of storage without raising prices. However, due to currency differences and local pricing policies, the cost in Pakistan is higher than in other regions.
User Impact and Recommendations
For regular users, the price increase may pose a challenge since cloud storage and AI tools are widely used in daily life. Users in Pakistan should review their subscription usage and budget carefully before renewing or upgrading plans.
